Start the new year with dance lessons which start in January of 2018.

Winter Elegance Charity Dance

Complimentary Waltz Dance Lesson

taught by Frank & Jackie starting at 7:45pm!

Saturday December 9th

It is held to benefit Home of the Sparrow who care for McHenry County homeless women and children. We ask that you bring an unwrapped present(s) for children, teenagers or their mothers. Gift cards and checks are also great ideas for them.

Remember the fun that dance brought into your life and the many friendships gained through dance?
Now is the time to introduce your non-dancing friends to the joy of dancing.

Join us on Saturday, December 9th at the
Winter Elegance Dance”
for an evening of dancing and camaraderie.

Waltz for Home of the Sparrow

As the holidays approach, we ask that you remember Home of the Sparrow in your holiday giving plans. The women and children who come to Home of the Sparrow are homeless, and often have very little family support. Your generosity will touch the hearts of these women and children, and will make a lasting impact on their lives. We also hope that by giving, you will experience a sense of fulfillment and peace, knowing you have made a difference to someone in our community.

DJ Dr. Rod will be playing a variety of our Theme Songs with Tango, Latin, oldies, ballroom and swing music. In addition there will be free coffee, cake, chances to win door prizes, 50/50 drawing and membership drawing.

The dance will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church's Activity Center, 300 Jefferson St., downtown Algonquin. Please bring a donation for the food pantry. Doors open at 7:15 p.m., dance lesson at 7:45 p.m. and open dancing following. Join the Greater Fox Valley Chapter of USA Dance for an evening of dancing, socializing and good fun. Admission is $8 for USA Dance members, $12 for non-members and $10 for seniors age 65+. For more information and maps, see Greater Fox Valley Chapter of USA Dance or www.dancewithfrankandjackie.com.

Other News

The November dance and auction was so much fun. The auction was a lot of work and the chapter netted almost $1,200. Most of all it was worth it to see the smiles of those leaving the dance with their auction treasures.

Thank you for the dedicated help of Dan Medina with set up, Cheryl and Jerry Gleason with handling the admission desk and those who brought snacks for the evening Judy Spizzirri and Rose (her popcorn is yummy) and the cake and coffee which was supplied by the chapter.

The auction was made possible only with the help of these amazing

ladies who compiled and decorated over 54 baskets: Cathy Medina, Gloria Biard, Karen Kurth, Soraya Kraszczk and Heidi Klepitsch. Special thanks to Karen & Bob Kurth who helped deliver the baskets and Gail Covenah who checked out and tallied all the baskets.

The theme of the evening was “Travel the World” and many wore tropical clothing or apparel which identified a destination. Some of those faraway places represented were: Alaska, the Galapagos Island and Shanghai. My favorite were the shirts that Rod and Gail Covenah wore which read “There’s no place like home”. Isn’t that the truth.
